Closures – DE Public Health Laboratory
The Delaware Public Health Laboratory is currently undergoing major renovations. As a result of these renovations, be aware that there may be times when the entire laboratory or certain parts of the laboratory could be closed. ODW is working closely with the laboratory to avoid sample cancellations or recollections during this time.
ODW will update the drinking water community via the Blast of any temporary laboratory closure or if certain sections of the laboratory will be shut down temporarily. Renovation/construction work is scheduled on weekends where possible.
During this period of renovation/construction, all bacteriological samples must be collected and submitted to the laboratory between Monday and Thursday. Additionally, if you collect samples on a Thursday, you must deliver the samples to the laboratory in Smyrna. Do not hesitate to contact ODW if you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter. ODW will update you via the Blast once renovations are complete at the laboratory.
TEMPORARY CLOSURE: During the week of June 13, HAA5 analysis will not be performed at the laboratory. The area of the laboratory where HAA5 testing occurs will be closed due to renovations. This closure is expected to last one week. Do not collect any HAA5 samples during this week. HAA5 analysis should resume on June 20. We will update you if there are any changes to this date.
