Course Prerequisite: You must provide documentation of five (5) years experience in the field of plumbing, pipe fitting, water / wastewater distribution or collection or another related industry field when registering for this class. This course is designed to train participants in the intricacies of field testing of backflow prevention assemblies. Backflow prevention assemblies included are: pressure vacuum breakers, spill proof vacuum breakers, double check valve assemblies and the reduced pressure backflow preventer assemblies, (RP). This training course will be composed of a series of lectures followed by guided exercises in a wet lab where “Hands-On” activities & experience will provide an understanding of the proper field testing methods for backflow prevention assemblies, tool and gauges available for the students to practice on during the wet lab practice times of the course.

Upon completion of this course and the written and individual performance tests where each participant must demonstrate his or her ability on each assembly the participants will be issued an “ASSE Certificate of Completion” and an “ASSE Tester Certification Card” and an “ASSE Tester Certification Number” from the American Society of Sanitary Engineering. The certification card and number will allow participants to test backflow prevention assemblies in any jurisdiction where ASSE Certification is accepted and the State of Delaware.

DRWA Cancellation and Refund Policy 
Effective October 1, 2024

If attendees do not attend class on their own accord, no refunds will be issued. Attendees will receive that dollar amount in credit only to be used within six months from the issue date. Full refunds or credits will be issued only when attendees have provided three days advance notice of their anticipated non-attendance. If DRWA cancels or reschedules a course, attendees can request a full refund or full dollar amount credit to be used within six months from the issue date.

Extenuating circumstances may be discussed with the Executive Director.
